Prices Reverse as Energy Markets Swing
Gas started higher, then faded into the close. The shift tracked a sharp drop in oil and European gas after renewed prospects of US Iran engagement, a move that likely pulled US contracts lower through basket trades tying energy commodities together.
Even so, US gas remains less exposed in the near term to overseas supply shocks because limited export capacity curbs how quickly domestic molecules can chase foreign price moves.
What Pushed Prices Around
Lower feedgas to liquefied natural gas export facilities added to the downside. The pullback was led by Freeport LNG in Texas, which kept more volumes in the domestic market and weighed on prices.
Losses did not run away. Production slipped over the weekend, with the biggest declines in Appalachia's shale fields. That drop suggests some producers may be cutting output at today's low price levels.

Weather and Supply Signal
Forecasts nudged a bit cooler, pointing to a modest pickup in heating and power demand as the winter season kicks in.
In plain English: a little more cold, but not enough to flip the script.
What It Means for Your Portfolio
Near term, domestic factors carry extra weight. Softer LNG feedgas leaves more supply at home, while lower production and slightly cooler forecasts offer some support.
