Abu Dhabi is reading the past eight months as a stress test. The war exposed how easily Persian Gulf shipments can be knocked off course and lifted the value of routes that do not rely on the Strait of Hormuz.
That is where the UAE's workaround mattered. The country softened the shock by routing crude through its line to Fujairah, a terminal just beyond the chokepoint.
On Monday in Abu Dhabi, Suhail Al Mazrouei said the country must be ready for the worst because it "cannot predict what's going to happen." He pointed to earlier outlays on pipelines, ships and logistics as reasons the UAE could keep barrels flowing during the conflict.
He also pressed producers to build storage hubs overseas so supply sits closer to end customers. After the war, he said, many companies will "redesign the facilities to be more resilient in the future." His remarks tracked with Adnoc chief Sultan Al Jaber, who called for more strategic stockpiles, bigger product buffers and tougher infrastructure, and argued that true energy security is assessed where the fuel is delivered, not just where it is pumped.
