What happened
Crypto.com said that, effective Feb. 1, 2027, people in Hong Kong will lose access to its consumer-facing app. "This decision reflects our ongoing efforts to optimize global operations and allocate resources where we see the most sustainable long-term opportunities," a Crypto.com spokesperson said.
How users will exit
The company said it has notified affected users ahead of the change and will walk them through how to close accounts and withdraw funds. "All impacted customers have received advance notice, we will provide clear instructions on closing their accounts and support is available to ensure the orderly withdrawal of their funds."

Regulatory push and what it means for your portfolio
Even as the consumer app winds down locally, Crypto.com continues to seek authorization in Hong Kong for a virtual-asset trading platform via its Foris DAX HK Limited entity. The submission requests approval from the Securities and Futures Commission for the institutional-grade Crypto.com Exchange platform. In plain English: the retail front door is closing, but the firm is trying to keep its institutional exchange in the city on a regulated footing.
