What DeepSeek announced
DeepSeek introduced Super-Agent, an open-source prototype built to handle coding help with more independence. In a GitHub user manual, the company said the goal is to "take as little human attention as possible, and give as much value as possible."
How it works and who built it
Earlier this year, DeepSeek set up the Harness team to develop AI agents capable of handling coding work that rivals offerings from top U.S. labs such as Anthropic PBC. The team said on WeChat that Super-Agent can proactively monitor developer group chats for feedback on coding problems and then propose solutions on its own.
In plain English, a harness is the software scaffolding wrapped around a large language model so agents can manage more complex tasks. Anthropic and others rely on these harness layers to improve how their systems streamline coding and related tasks.
Smart investors keep learning how new tools can sharpen their decision making. We're hosting our first ever investor livestream on 11/17 to show you how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro, hosted by Briefs Finance CEO Jaspreet Singh. Save your seat.
The competitive backdrop
Chinese firms and US developers are in a tight race to deliver more advanced and more affordable AI tools. ChatGPT from OpenAI helped spark the global AI rush, and many companies have since shifted attention to AI agents that carry out work for developers and business professionals.
Why investors should care
If agents like Super-Agent can quietly suggest fixes in the background, developer workflows could get faster and cheaper. The broad signal for your portfolio: capital and competition are moving toward AI agents that sit on top of models and actually execute work, not just the models themselves.
A thoughtful approach to emerging technology can quietly improve investment outcomes over time. On 11/17, our CEO Jaspreet Singh goes live for our first ever investor livestream on how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro. Register to join him.
