What moved the market
Democratic odds climbed to 74% on Monday, a new high for the Kalshi market. The jump followed a New York Times/Siena poll report showing Democrats ahead in several battleground states, which bolstered the party's route to a potential Senate majority.
The contract is explicitly phrased, "Who will control the Senate?" and it opened in 2024. Since launch, Republicans had largely held the advantage in the 2026 control market. The spread narrowed after the U.S. and Israel began strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, GOP odds then climbed to 60% in July, and momentum flipped in mid-September.
Race-level shifts
Odds moved fast in state contests too. On Kalshi, Democrats' implied probability in Texas now sits at 74%, rising from 68.4% during the past 24 hours. On Polymarket, the Iowa Senate market shifted to 50% for Democrats from 42%.
Kansas saw one of the bigger repricings. Kansas, which hasn't sent a Democratic U.S. senator to Washington since 1932, saw the chance of Democrat Adam Hamilton beating Republican Roger Marshall climb to 63% from 52%.
