Mosley's message on stage
Speaking at the Bloomberg Tech event in London, Louis Mosley, an executive vice president covering the UK and Europe, said Palantir is navigating crosswinds on both sides of the ocean, facing backlash in the US over its support for Ukraine and controversy in Europe tied to its support for Israel. He pushed back on the idea that the firm is uniquely disliked in Europe and reiterated its mission, saying, "From our inception we built the company to defend the West. We believe in the West." He added, "We believe in liberal democracy, the rule of law, the values that make up the West."
Europe's pivot away from U.S. tech
Mosley's comments land as European governments move to cut dependence on Palantir's platforms. More broadly, officials have been shifting off US technology after deteriorating relations with Donald Trump's administration encouraged them to rely less on American infrastructure. France's security services have already replaced Palantir's tools with alternatives from local firm ChapsVision. In the UK, Palantir faces the potential loss of a £330 million ($443 million) National Health Service deal.

Where Palantir fits now
Palantir, launched in 2003 by Silicon Valley tech tycoons such as Peter Thiel alongside CEO Alex Karp, is valued at around $400 billion and is deeply integrated into the machinery of the US government and others. To some countries, the company symbolizes Trump's muscular pro America stance and US tech dominance that they see as encroaching on their sovereignty. Its software is used by civilian agencies, intelligence services, police forces and militaries worldwide, and in 2025 NATO's military branch struck a deal to deploy Palantir's Maven Smart System that relies on artificial intelligence for surveillance and targeting. The bottom line: political scrutiny is growing even as defense and government work stays sticky, a mix investors will be pricing into long term expectations.
