ElevenLabs may begin IPO prep in 2028, says CEO

Published Nov 3, 2026
Share:
Summary:
  • CEO Mati Staniszewski said the company may start preparing for an IPO in 2028, framing it as one step in a longer plan.
  • Formed in 2022, ElevenLabs builds voice and audio models for sales and call center agents, audiobooks, and ad translation.
  • A $300 million employee tender recently valued the firm at $22 billion, about twice its valuation from February.

CEO outlook and IPO timing

Chief Executive Officer Mati Staniszewski said the company may start preparing for an IPO in 2028. "It's a step in the journey."

He added that in three to five years, most people will expect that their business interactions involve AI. "Today you assume that you're interacting with a human unless it's proven to be AI," he said. "In the future I think it will be the opposite."

What ElevenLabs builds and how it is funded

Founded in 2022, the firm develops speech and sound systems used to run AI assistants in sales and contact centers, to voice audiobooks, and to convert advertisements into multiple languages. The business is riding a surge of enterprise-focused AI agents for workplace communications.

ElevenLabs wrapped up an employee tender worth $300 million, assigning the company a $22 billion valuation - about twice what it was in February.

New technologies quietly reshape how investors find an advantage over time. We're hosting our first ever investor livestream on 11/17 to show you how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro, hosted by Briefs Finance CEO Jaspreet Singh. Save your seat.

Risk, detection, and the buyer hurdle

AI agents are boosting output, yet concerns about fraud and deepfakes may keep customers from granting them real decision-making authority. To mitigate that risk, ElevenLabs introduced a synthetic-voice detector that spots telltale signals in real-time audio to judge if the caller is a person or an AI system. The offering is aimed at government bodies that lack the tooling to cope with a wave of AI agents hitting their services.

Market backdrop and who it is up against

Investors have poured money into AI models and the tools behind them, but worries about returns have weighed on share prices. That puts pressure on companies to show they can make money, even as open-weight models arrive with near cutting edge performance at a fraction of current prices.

Competition is already forming. ElevenLabs faces Alibaba's open-sourced Qwen model, which includes speech generation and voice cloning, and U.S. rivals such as Palo Alto-based Fish Audio. The bottom line: for AI holdings in your portfolio, track how fast voice agents become standard in enterprise workflows and whether verification tools calm customer risk.

Learning to use smarter tools can give investors a clearer, calmer perspective. On 11/17, our CEO Jaspreet Singh goes live for our first ever investor livestream on how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro. Register to join him.
