Enbridge Taps Michele Harradence to Succeed Greg Ebel as CEO

The leadership change

Enbridge picked Michele Harradence to step into the CEO role, elevating her from her post overseeing the company's gas distribution and storage unit. The move was announced Tuesday. Greg Ebel plans to retire at the end of 2026, closing out a run of more than three years in the top job following his 2017 arrival.

As the biggest pipeline operator in North America, Enbridge also sits as Canada's sixth-most valuable publicly listed company. Harradence's promotion puts her instantly among the country's most prominent female executives. Right now, only one top-20 Canadian public company is led by a woman: Canadian National Railway Co.'s Tracy Robinson.

What Ebel built and what comes next

In 2023, under Ebel, Enbridge agreed to buy three Dominion Energy Inc. utilities for about $9.4 billion, a transaction that made the company the largest natural gas provider in North America.

After a stint at Shell Plc, Harradence came to Enbridge in 2014 and has overseen the gas utilities since 2022.
