Airbus is in advanced talks to supply Air Cairo with around 15 single-aisle A320-family aircraft, according to people who asked not to be named because the negotiations are confidential. The package being discussed also includes options for roughly the same number, giving the carrier the ability to expand the order later. The parties could wrap things up as early as this week.
Air Cairo is aiming to secure production slots and widen its footprint. The airline, founded more than a decade ago, already serves more than 60 destinations across the Middle East and Europe. Locking in deliveries would support those expansion plans, the people said.
Air Cairo currently operates about 30 Airbus A320 jets, alongside Embraer regional aircraft and ATR turboprops. Airbus declined to discuss customer negotiations, and Air Cairo couldn't be reached for comment.

If the deal is signed, it points to a carrier planning for more flying in the years ahead. How that shows up for travelers will hinge on how many aircraft ultimately get delivered and the timing, but the direction of travel is clear: Air Cairo is positioning to grow.
