The scale of the exports
In a report published Thursday, the Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air said China's clean tech sales this year could offset an amount of CO2 similar to Brazil's annual fossil fuel emissions. The estimate comes to about 450 million tons of CO2 a year, which the group says is roughly 2% of emissions outside China.
What China is shipping
The report says clean tech sold by China includes solar panels, batteries and electric cars. From January to September 2026, CREA reports that China's exports of electric vehicles jumped 61% year over year, with wind turbines up 45%, batteries up 39% and solar up 22%.
Why the moment favors China
According to CREA, the war in the Middle East is accelerating a shift away from fossil fuels because countries that rely on imported oil and gas are searching for alternatives. With a strong position in green energy industries, China stands to gain from that pivot. According to the report, China's exports "have become a key enabler of the global clean-energy transition, driving down the cost, opening up new markets and responding to the rapid increase in demand."

The bottom line for investors
A combination of accelerating demand and rising shipments shows how much of the global supply of clean energy gear is being set by China's export engine. For your portfolio, that means the pricing and availability of solar, batteries, EVs and wind hardware increasingly reflect Chinese production and logistics.
