The hire and the handoff
Barclays has recruited Wee Yee Yeong, who leads Morgan Stanley's Singapore wealth business, according to people familiar with the move who asked not to be named because it involves personnel changes. He is expected to join in December as head of wealth for Singapore and Asia, succeeding Evonne Tan, who left in April to take the role of Asia wealth chief executive officer at Schroders Plc. Both Wee and Barclays declined to comment, while a Morgan Stanley spokesperson confirmed he is departing the firm.
Barclays' Asia push
The timing lines up with Barclays switching the lights back on at its Singapore booking center, part of a broader effort to grow revenue in Asia's rapidly expanding wealth market.
