Harbinger lands $240 million to ramp EV tech across defense, autonomy and storage

Published Nov 5, 2026

Summary:
  • In a Series D round co-led by Tiger Global, Capricorn's Technology Impact Fund and Ridgeline, Harbinger Motors Inc. secured $240 million.
  • Existing backers including FedEx took part, and Fidelity Management & Research Company joined as a new investor.
  • The medium-duty electric truck maker says its total funding since 2021 now tops over $650 million, and it will put the latest capital toward scaling production of its electrification technology for sectors such as defense, autonomy software and energy storage.

What happened

Harbinger closed a $240 million Series D to accelerate production of its electrification technology. The round was co-led by Tiger Global, Capricorn's Technology Impact Fund and Ridgeline, with participation from prior investors such as FedEx and the addition of Fidelity Management & Research Company as a first-time backer. Since 2021, the company says it has raised over $650 million.

Where the money will go

The company plans to use the fresh capital to expand manufacturing that serves defense, autonomy software and energy storage markets.

New technologies quietly reshape markets, and savvy investors look to learn the signals. We're hosting our first ever investor livestream on 11/17 to show you how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro, hosted by Briefs Finance CEO Jaspreet Singh. Save your seat.

Why it matters for your portfolio

Harbinger is pairing capital with customers. In September, the company said FedEx placed an order for 2,000 electric delivery vans under a contract valued at more than $300 million, with deliveries planned by the end of 2027. Co-founder and CEO John Harris framed the investor base behind that growth, saying, "We've been focused for a long time on pretty carefully curating what the investor mix looks like to reflect the stage that the company is at," adding, "We've been focused on bringing investors onto the cap table that are generally crossover or public markets focused."

Keeping abreast of innovation often gives patient investors a clearer perspective on risk. On 11/17, our CEO Jaspreet Singh goes live for our first ever investor livestream on how to use ChatGPT and Claude to invest like a pro. Register to join him.
