What's taking shape
Nvidia Corp. is evaluating a commitment of up to $10 billion to Anthropic's stock market debut, according to Reuters, which cited unnamed sources. The listing could challenge the all-time IPO size record. Anthropic is holding talks about having Nvidia - the top producer of AI chips - serve as an anchor investor. The terms are still being negotiated and could shift, Reuters added.
How big this could get
According to Reuters, Anthropic is targeting up to $100 billion for the IPO, an amount that could value the AI firm at about $2 trillion. Bloomberg reported in August that Anthropic anticipates equaling or surpassing the size of SpaceX's record-setting IPO.
Fundraising backdrop and who answered the phone
Anthropic, founded five years ago, secured $65 billion in May, valuing the company at $965 billion. That topped rival OpenAI's $852 billion valuation from March, when the ChatGPT maker pulled in $122 billion. Bloomberg noted that representatives for Nvidia and Anthropic did not immediately reply to requests for comment.
