Where Prices Stand
Gold has been stuck in a tight lane around $4,400, even after rebounding from a near $4,000 floor in July. A Bloomberg chart shows prices lodged between the 100 day and 200 day moving averages. The range trade reflects a split screen: some buyers are leaning on gold as a long term hedge while rising yields and Middle East tensions keep a lid on momentum.
As of early Singapore trading, spot gold was priced at $4,400.32, silver was little changed at $67.29, and both platinum and palladium inched higher. The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index slipped 0.1%.

What's Driving the Market
Ten year Treasury yields climbed - a headwind for an asset that does not yield - after a government plan to purchase as much as $6 billion in longer-rated debt did not move the needle for investors. The tepid reaction followed Brent crude touching $100 a barrel, a level last seen in July, which heightened inflation concerns. In the region's seventh month of war, Iran said it was ready for a more severe confrontation if the U.S. continues attacks on its territory and infrastructure. With no sign of hostilities cooling, the risk of ongoing disruptions to energy supply remains elevated.
What This Means For Your Portfolio
Gold's quiet near $4,400 and the 1% rebound after a three day dip capture the push and pull between long term hedging demand and higher yields plus geopolitical risk. This week's PPI and CPI could sway expectations going into the Sept. 14-15 Fed meeting and shift those roughly 65% hike odds that traders are pricing.
