What Canada is putting on the table
Canada is in active talks to help Poland add nuclear capacity, with Sidhu calling the conversations "very positive" and saying he is "very optimistic." He said Canada can back a reactor project with a reliable uranium supply and is exploring ways to assist with financing. On the gas side, he added that Canada could move LNG to Baltic Sea terminals using swap arrangements.
Who else is in the mix
This would be Poland's second nuclear plant, and Canada is set to compete against the US and France for the work. Warsaw previously picked Westinghouse Electric and Bechtel to build the country's first facility as it works to move away from expensive, high-emissions coal. Washington has signaled it expects to secure additional nuclear deals in Poland, a NATO member that has also been buying American jets and other military equipment.
The trade backdrop and why buyers are listening
Ottawa's push lines up with a broader effort to spread Canada's exports beyond the US as tariff battles with President Donald Trump intensify. Sidhu said he sees those tensions creating openings for Canadian firms. His pitch: big trading relationships can be unpredictable, and Canada offers stability. In his words, "Large trading partners present a lot of uncertainty," and with today's choppy trade patterns, "folks are looking to Canada for that stable, reliable partnership because they know we won't cut anybody off."
He made the remarks during a visit that included meetings with Poland's energy and finance ministers and a stop at a defense fair in Kielce, where he led a record delegation of more than 200 Canadian companies.

What this means for your portfolio
If Canada lands nuclear or LNG deals, more export revenue could flow to Canadian energy, engineering, and services firms. For Poland, replacing coal with nuclear and imported gas reshapes demand for fuel and equipment over decades. The takeaway for your money: long-cycle energy and infrastructure commitments can create steadier revenue streams than the latest hype cycle.
