What moved the stock
Investors piled into Securitize after the Securities and Exchange Commission unveiled a temporary framework that lets select venues handle trading of tokenized versions of publicly listed U.S. equities. By late afternoon, SECZ was shown at 8.93, up 1.16 or 14.93%, with the day's high at one point 24% above Wednesday's close.
What the SEC just allowed
The agency introduced what it called the Innovation Exemption, a time-limited pathway that will be in place for five years. It is an order rather than a permanent change to regulations. As SEC Chair Paul Atkins put it, "The Innovation Exemption is designed to resolve challenges that have prevented responsible innovation from taking root in the United States while providing investor protections and market integrity standards."
Why tokenization matters now
Tokenization means logging ownership of real-world assets such as corporate shares and bonds on a decentralized digital ledger. One practical benefit: it can facilitate trading near the market close, which can make these digital securities more flexible than their traditional counterparts. The market for these assets is not small anymore either. Data from RWA.xyz shows tokenized assets reached a combined value of $38.51 billion as of Thursday afternoon, gaining by more than 70% over the last year.

Where Securitize fits
Securitize went public in early July, becoming the first major tokenization-focused company to list in the U.S. Needham Securities estimates the company controls roughly 9% of tokenized assets by assets under management, a position that could help it ride the expansion as more real-world assets move on-chain. Needham's John Todaro, who initiated coverage last week with a buy rating, wrote, "We believe the long-term leaders will be those platforms that can secure the broadest base of inst. customers. SECZ has done this having launched two funds with BlackRock, Apollo, KKR, and others and has infra. partnerships with Computershare and NYSE."
