Funding round and near-unicorn valuation
Buildots said Monday it closed a fresh $130 million round, anchored by OG Venture Partners, the venture arm tied to billionaire Eyal Ofer. Lightspeed Venture Partners, Intel Capital, and additional investors also participated. Chief Executive Roy Danon told Bloomberg the new capital puts Buildots' valuation within striking distance of $1 billion. The company has raised a total of $297 million since launching in 2018.
What the software does on the job site
Buildots uses AI to track what is actually happening on construction sites against the design and schedule, flagging snags and projecting where timelines could slip. The goal is to head off the expensive delays that Danon said developers often misjudge. As he put it, "electrical work is moving slowly, it's also blocking the mechanical work and it's blocking the commissioning and we can start showing you that knock-on effect that it has on every other activity on the job site," adding, "You need the whole trail of data to get to those conclusions." The platform is already in use at Intel Corp. and data center specialist Digital Realty, and with large US contractors STO Building Group and JE Dunn Construction Co.
Why speed is everything for data centers
Data center builders face a special clock. AI hardware evolves quickly, and projects that drag risk opening with chips that are already dated. "From the moment you start working on a data center, those GPUs, those CPUs will not be relevant in a few years," Danon said.
"You need to redo the whole thing. So the shorter you can make construction, then the more active lifetime those projects have." That urgency is showing up across the sector as tech giants pour billions into new capacity, even while some builds hit major delays or get shelved.

What the new money will fund
Buildots, headquartered in Tel Aviv and Chicago, said it plans to expand its product lineup to cover more pieces of the construction cycle. If the software trims delays on mega-builds, that could ripple into everything from chip supply timelines to cloud capacity coming online faster. For everyday investors, the takeaway is simple: AI is speeding up the pace of change, and the companies removing bottlenecks in that build-out can influence how quickly the next wave of tech reaches the market.
