What was reported
Tasnim, cited by Reuters, said two missiles hit Qeshm Island on Friday and added that authorities had not provided any formal information about damage. The island sits off Iran's southern shoreline near the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and gas shipments that has become a focal point during the war.
The U.S. also struck the same island on Monday, and a U.S. official told MS Now that action was taken as a defensive step.
What President Trump said
Speaking with reporters Friday evening after arriving in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump declined to address Qeshm Island specifically, saying he didn't want to get into that. He said the U.S. carries out limited strikes that take targets offline, describing how a newly built anti-air system was disabled within minutes. He did not clearly say whether those remarks referred to the reported activity on Qeshm.
Trump also said Iran is eager to reach an agreement, asserting that inflation there is "300%," that its navy is gone, and that its airport and other infrastructure have been wiped out. Asked about his timing for a deal, he said no one is getting hurt or killed, and contrasted the current conflict's intensity with the prolonged, all-out fighting of World War I and World War II.

Iran's response and economic backdrop
Iranian officials say Washington must go beyond promises on paper before entering a new stage of talks.
What this means for your portfolio
The Strait of Hormuz is a choke point for energy shipments, so reports of strikes on nearby Qeshm and shifting U.S.-Iran messaging can move oil, ripple through shipping and insurance, and tug on broader commodities. The bottom line: geopolitical headlines here can add premium to crude and volatility to anything tied to energy and freight.
