What the Poll Shows
Venezuelans are torn over the Trump administration's oil pact with the country's interim authorities. In a survey released Tuesday by AtlasIntel's LatAm Pulse for Bloomberg News, about 38% voiced opposition, roughly 35% expressed support, and 27% weren't sure.
Expectations for everyday impact are more tempered: roughly six in ten respondents expect the deal's effect on their lives to be very positive, somewhat positive, or neutral. At the same time, 50% think Washington will come out ahead, 28% expect both sides to benefit equally, and only 10% think Venezuela will gain more.
Political Fallout at Home
The agreement has become a political stress test for acting President Delcy Rodríguez. Many also question whether she has the mandate to negotiate a deal of this scale.
Even so, Rodríguez's disapproval rating, which had been rising since she assumed office following the Jan. 3 capture of Nicolás Maduro by US forces, dipped four percentage points to 60.5%. Legitimacy concerns remain high: about 47% said the current administration lacks the authority to commit to long-term agreements involving natural resources, and 36% believe the pact compromises Venezuela's sovereignty.

Opposition leader María Corina Machado, who challenged Rodríguez's authority to negotiate but stopped short of criticizing the deal itself, still holds the strongest net-positive image. Her favorability, however, slid by 19 points to 53%, back to June-level readings after peaking at 72% in July.
What Washington Is Saying
Trump's top diplomat is selling the deal as a shared win that sidelines US adversaries.
What It Means for Your Portfolio
If most people expect neutral-to-positive daily effects but think the US will reap more of the upside, the politics could shape how quickly barrels actually move. For anyone with energy exposure, the key variable to watch is stability around the agreement as the legitimacy fight plays out.
