Results and partner payouts
EY, which described itself as one of the Big Four accountancy firms, disclosed on Tuesday that average profit per partner in its UK business rose by about 10% to £870,000 in the financial year ending July 3, a figure it gave as $1.16 million in U.S. dollar terms. The company said this increase came despite a challenging market.
By comparison, Deloitte's average payout to UK equity partners in 2026 was £1.13 million and PwC's average payout to UK equity partners in 2026 was £935,000.
Revenue and unit performance
EY said its UK and Ireland division's revenue increased 2% to £3.86 billion in the same reporting period, while distributable profit rose 3.4% to £702 million. The firm also reported mixed results across its units - the consulting arm's revenue fell by 3%, while the tax unit grew by 3% and the assurance unit grew by 3%.
Leadership comments and timing
Anna Anthony, the managing partner of EY's UK and Ireland arm, made a public call for a stable business environment the day before the chancellor is due to deliver a budget. The chancellor referred to is John Healey. Anthony said "Creating the conditions that support business confidence, investment and innovation will be critical," and added "A stable and competitive business environment will help the UK to build on its strengths, support job creation and drive sustainable growth in the years ahead."
