What changed
Indonesia began easing back pipeline gas deliveries to Singapore on Saturday, cutting daily flows by roughly 31 million standard cubic feet. The Energy Market Authority put that at under 2 percent of the city-state's typical daily gas use. By Monday, some power generators had contacted Singapore GasCo Pte Ltd to ask about extra supply, but the state buyer said it has not needed to procure additional LNG cargoes.
Company stance and supply outlook
He added that GasCo has already lined up enough gas to cover expected needs and handle possible cutbacks through the end of 2027.
This year, GasCo kicked off its inaugural long-term LNG tender, with contract awards targeted for 2027. The plan is to line up term contracts totaling about 2 to 3 million tons of LNG, with shipments commencing in 2029. Natural gas powers nearly all of Singapore's electricity output, sourced both from pipelines linking to Indonesia and Malaysia and from LNG imports.
