Timing And What We Know
Late Monday, China confirmed Xi's trip to the U.S. for Wednesday through Friday, with his arrival expected in two days. There's still little clarity on which Chinese business leaders will be part of the delegation. China's foreign ministry did not immediately answer CNBC's questions on Tuesday morning. Microsoft and the White House also didn't reply to CNBC's requests for comment.
The U.S. Executive Lineup So Far
A person familiar with the matter says Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is slated to attend a dinner planned for Thursday in Washington, D.C. Senior U.S. officials have also circulated a list of expected participants: Nvidia's Jensen Huang, OpenAI's Sam Altman, Google's Sundar Pichai, Tesla and SpaceX's Elon Musk, Citigroup's Jane Fraser, Amazon's Jeff Bezos, Apple's Tim Cook, and Dell's Michael Dell.
For context, on May 14, 2026 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Apple CEO Tim Cook were spotted heading to a session that brought together Chinese Premier Li Qiang with a group of American corporate leaders. That same day, Boeing CEO Kelly Orthberg was among the American executives meeting with Premier Li, coinciding with the Trump-Xi summit in Beijing.

Possible Chinese Delegation And The Backdrop
Reuters reported last week that Chinese business figures under consideration include representatives from BYD; smartphone maker Xiaomi; battery makers CATL and Gotion; Hisense, a consumer electronics company; auto parts group Wanxiang; the state-owned Bank of China; and COFCO Group, an agricultural conglomerate. BYD told CNBC it had no comment, and the other companies didn't immediately respond.
In the background is a tougher policy climate. In recent years, both governments have placed firms from the other side on restricted lists that curb how they can do business across borders.
What This Means For Your Portfolio
When leaders like Tim Cook, Jensen Huang, and Jane Fraser show up, it signals serious engagement, even if agendas stay quiet. Watch for which companies ultimately confirm attendance and any post-meeting readouts. Fresh signs of cooperation or new friction could ripple into tech, autos, batteries, and financials.
