Strategy in motion
Air Mauritius says it is rolling out a plan aimed at strengthening long term growth. Seabury Aviation Partners LLC completed a from scratch 10 year network assessment, and the carrier is applying route profitability rules across its map. A related document, titled 10 Future-Fit Game Changer Strategies, sets the goal of matching each route with the most suitable aircraft to lift efficiency on both long haul and regional flying.
Fleet plan and potential orders
The review points to bringing narrow-bodies into the mix and taking another look at whether to add more A350-900s. A request for proposals is open for as many as five single aisle jets. Separately, management is evaluating whether to add a fifth A350, and it is in discussions with Airbus regarding two additional units.
Where single aisle could fly
Modern narrow-bodies - examples include the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 MAX family - are being assessed for certain medium haul routes. The list under evaluation includes Johannesburg, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur, Chennai and Mumbai, plus nearby regional services. The carrier, a key link for the tourism-driven island nation, currently flies nonstop to France, the UK and South Africa, and also operates to Asia and Australia.
