Deal snapshot
Turning trash into cash is the idea here. Valency International Ltd., based in Singapore, lined up a $60 million guarantee from Green Guarantee Co. for a bond whose proceeds are earmarked to convert cashew-nut waste into energy. The manager of GGC, Development Guarantee Group, released the details in a Thursday statement.
What Valency is building
Separately from the bond use, Valency is preparing a plant in Ivory Coast to transform cashew nut shells and other residuals into bio-oils and green energy. That facility sits inside a broader $150 million strategy to monetize cashew processing leftovers by handling 90,000 tons of waste into bio-oils, biofuels and fertilizer. Those biofuels are expected to feed a 5 megawatt power unit.
Who bought and what's next
HSBC Holdings Plc put the deal together, and Legal & General Group Plc took the bond. It is slated for listing on the Vienna stock exchange. The GGC manager said it marks CGC's second guaranteed transaction, coming after a July issuance from an African solar home system financier.

Why it matters for your money
If you track climate tech or frontier-market infrastructure, this ties a credit guarantee, a named buyer and a European listing to a concrete plan for waste-to-energy in the world's biggest cashew producer. It is a window into how blended finance and real assets meet on the ground, and a reminder to look past the headline to the project pipeline and how it plans to generate power and cash flow.
