Concord Pacific adds 50 Saskatchewan turbines, eyes AI-ready data hubs

What Concord Bought

The Golden South Wind Project - 50 turbines - was purchased by Concord Pacific from Potentia Renewables in a transaction worth several hundred million Canadian dollars. Golden South's 210‑megawatt capacity makes it the biggest operating wind farm in Saskatchewan. Of that capacity, 200 megawatts are under contract, which the project says is enough to power 100,000 homes. The project sells its output through a contract with Saskatchewan Power Corp., the province's utility.

Concord's Renewable Footprint

Headquartered in Vancouver and founded in 1987, Concord Pacific is among Canada's biggest real estate developers, with projects that helped shape the city's skyline. About 15 years back, it moved into renewable energy. The Saskatchewan purchase nearly doubles the company's renewables arm to roughly 543 megawatts of installed capacity, and it has early‑stage projects that could add several hundred megawatts more. Hui said there are bigger initiatives ahead and pointed to the Amisk Hydroelectric Project in northwest Alberta, which is still in the planning stage.

Why Power Demand Is Rising

Hui said artificial intelligence and electric vehicles are set to drive a large increase in power demand, and that renewables can help meet it. He also said Concord Pacific is moving forward with a few powered‑shell developments across Canada to host AI data centers. These would be "urban, low latency, smaller‑scale" and under 50 megawatts. "It's not hyper-scale," he said.
