What happened
Anthropic has chosen Nasdaq for its planned listing, according to someone with knowledge of the move. Business Insider reported the venue decision earlier. Both Anthropic and Nasdaq declined to comment.
How big and how soon
People close to the preparations say the IPO could land as early as October, with a goal of raising as much as or more than SpaceX's record $86.3 billion offering in June. Nasdaq has already hosted four of the year's largest US debuts, including SpaceX; a few weeks later, SK Hynix Inc. made its July entry to the market after raising $26.5 billion.
Financing and the market backdrop
Bloomberg News said that earlier this month, Anthropic sought to finalize its $15 billion revolving credit facility. Meanwhile, per Bloomberg data, US IPO proceeds total $160.6 billion year-to-date, with figures omitting blank-check companies and other investment structures - the largest annual tally since 2021.

Revenue momentum and the AI safety drumbeat
Bloomberg News says Anthropic's recent trajectory implies annualized revenue topping $65 billion, more than a sevenfold increase from its run rate at the end of last year. The IPO build-up also coincides with a public pause call from OpenAI's Sam Altman, Anthropic's Dario Amodei and Elon Musk, who on Saturday all argued the industry should slow AI development due to growing risks. Altman also told Fortune that OpenAI will not pursue an IPO this year because of safety concerns.
