The hire and who he is
Polymarket brought in Warren Jenson this week to oversee finances across the entire company, a role it has not had before. Jenson, 69, previously held senior finance posts at Nielsen and LiveRamp. He also led finance at Amazon.com Inc. in the 1990s when it was still a young bookseller, later became CFO at Electronic Arts Inc., and sits on the boards of Ripple, Delivery Hero, and Dropbox. Until now, Polymarket had finance leaders for individual lines of business but no single executive running finance overall.
Shayne Coplan, the company's 28-year-old founder and CEO, said, "Warren has led finance at some of the most consequential companies in the world, and his experience will be critical to everything we build from here."
Where Polymarket stands now
Polymarket was once the category leader in prediction markets, but it has slipped behind rival Kalshi on valuation and trading activity in recent months. By late August, its U.S. and international exchanges were seeing around one sixth of Kalshi's trading, according to user-compiled data hosted on Dune Analytics. Bloomberg has reported internal turmoil at Polymarket along with a broad-ranging federal probe by its primary regulator, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The company has been expanding headcount, bringing on fresh talent and veteran executives, among them Travis VanderZanden, whose past roles include running international growth at Uber Technologies Inc.
Fundraising and the advisory web
Polymarket is in the market for $1 billion of new capital in a round led by venture firm 1789 Capital that would peg its valuation at $21 billion. Donald Trump Jr., a partner at 1789, is likewise advising Polymarket as well as Kalshi.

What this means for your portfolio
This is a classic scale and credibility moment. A seasoned CFO who has steered finance at Amazon and EA, plus a push to raise a billion dollars, signals Polymarket wants to reaccelerate after ceding ground to Kalshi. If you track real-money prediction platforms for signals about politics, sports, or macro bets, leadership chops and regulatory overhangs matter as much as trading volume. The next few months will show whether fresh capital and veteran oversight can translate into growth you can actually see on the screens you use.
