What is moving
Big bond buyers are circling Arini's book. People with knowledge of the situation say Pacific Investment Management Co. and Oaktree Capital Management have submitted bids for portions of its high-yield holdings. Spokespeople at Pimco and Oaktree did not provide comment, and Arini did not have a spokesperson available.
What Arini is selling and why it matters
Arini has already exited some positions in large speculative-grade names, and dealers are in talks with potential buyers about additional sales, according to people familiar. The focus is on liquid, better-performing assets to manage the portfolio and raise cash, with Sabre Corp. debt noted as a recent example. These are early conversations, and they may not result in trades.
The moves come after a rough patch for the flagship fund, which is down about 26% through Oct. 23 as credit markets strain under rising global interest rates, higher energy costs and threats from artificial intelligence.

The bigger picture on Arini
It is a sharp turn for founder Hamza Lemssouguer, 36, who made his name at Credit Suisse and then delivered strong returns at Arini by buying relatively illiquid debt from large, lower-rated issuers. The firm became one of Europe's fastest-growing hedge funds, scaling from $1 billion in 2022 to a $21.7 billion credit-trading platform. The flagship has never posted a full-year loss.
Alongside portfolio sales, Arini said earlier this month that it raised $1.5 billion in new cash; more than $400 million has already been put to work. A person familiar with the matter said the flagship fund is also willing to accept more capital from existing investors.
What investors should watch
If dealers place more of Arini's liquid paper, expect clearer price signals in pockets of high yield where trading has been thin. For your portfolio, watch where bids stick and where they fade - that is where liquidity and risk appetite are actually being priced.
