What's new in the lineup
Eight Sleep, the maker of temperature-tuning mattress covers, rolled out two additions to its Pod family. The headliner for value hunters is the Pod 6 Solo, starting at $1,999-plus. It's the first Pod with a single temperature zone, pitched to younger buyers, people in tighter spaces, and solo sleepers. It works with twin beds as well as larger sizes.
The company also refreshed its flagship two-person system with the Pod 6 at $2,699-plus. This version lets each side of the bed run its own temperature. The new hub was shrunk by half and its housing is designed to slide under most bed frames instead of sitting beside them. Because it can serve two sleepers, it's offered for full-size mattresses and up.
Tech and features
Eight Sleep systems come with built-in health sensors, adjustable temperature controls, and a silent alarm. An optional adjustable base can raise your head to ease back pressure or help with snoring.
Compared with earlier Pods, the Pod 6 packs a much denser sensor array - nine times more biometric sensors - to better capture readings including heart rate variability and its proprietary Sleep Fitness Score. The thermal engine now adjusts faster when users experience chills, night sweats, or hot flashes, an update aimed at women navigating perimenopause or pregnancy. Rather than merely logging data like wearables do, the Pod actively tweaks temperature during the night to shape microclimates, help keep circadian rhythms on schedule, and improve sleep quality. As co-founder Alexandra Zatarain put it, "Our goal has always been to not just provide data, like wearables do, but to actually do interventions during the night that will help you improve different aspects of your sleep."
Regulation and rivals
Eight Sleep is pursuing authorization from the US Food and Drug Administration and international regulators so it can detect and help treat sleep apnea. The ambition is to make Pods prescribable by clinicians and eligible for insurance coverage. The company is also exploring similar approvals to support people with other conditions, including temperature regulation during cancer treatment.
Competition is heating up. Whoop Inc. and Oura Inc. track sleep and wellness via wearables, and Hatch Baby Inc. is moving into adult sleep tracking with a bedside device. Eight Sleep's pitch is that it reads cardiovascular and respiratory signals straight from the bed, no gadget on your wrist required.

Business progress and why it could matter for your money
Eight Sleep says its Pod line is on pace to hit $1 billion in cumulative sales by the end of the year. That milestone comes not long after it disclosed $500 million in Pod sales. The company now sells in 37 countries, with Zatarain calling out especially rapid momentum in mainland China.
Founded in 2014 and headquartered in New York, Eight Sleep has cultivated a fan base that includes early adopters, tech executives, and athletes. Earlier this year, a $50 million funding round pegged the company's valuation at $1.5 billion, and it is still laying groundwork for an eventual IPO. As Zatarain said, "We don't have a specific timeline for that because the markets change so much, then there's always so many factors that come into play," adding, "But when we think about where we want to take a sleep, we definitely want businesses to be here 100 years from now."
Here's the bottom line for your wallet: a cheaper single-zone option broadens the addressable market while the upgraded flagship keeps the premium crowd engaged. Pair that with regulatory ambitions and international expansion, and you get more potential paths to revenue before any IPO headlines show up.
