What is happening
Carlsberg A/S is gearing up to submit a public IPO filing for its India business as soon as this week, according to people who asked not to be named because the details are private. Those same people said roadshows are penciled in for next week and the listing could kick off as early as December, targeting proceeds of up to $700 million.
Deal structure and advisers
The planned offering is expected to be entirely a secondary sale of shares by the Danish brewer. Carlsberg quietly lodged draft IPO papers in July and is working with Kotak Mahindra Capital Co., alongside the Indian units of JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Citigroup Inc. The contours are still in flux, and the size, structure and timing may shift. A Carlsberg representative did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
The market backdrop
India's IPO window has reopened after a slow first half of 2026. So far this year, first-time share sales have pulled in about $14.4 billion, keeping pace after a record $22 billion came in during 2025. Momentum is visible at the top end too: Jio Platforms Ltd.'s record $3.2 billion issue drew full subscription within hours of bids opening on Wednesday.

Why it matters for investors
Carlsberg India is the country's No. 2 brewer with roughly 22% market share, seven breweries nationwide, and an on-the-ground presence since 2007, according to the company's site. If this all-secondary float lands in a hot issuance calendar, it adds another liquid consumer-staples name to watch. The bottom line: a sizeable brewer coming to market in an active year could offer a fresh way to play India's listings cycle, while deal terms and timing remain subject to change.
