What changed at Yahoo Finance
Yahoo Finance and Polymarket teamed up in November, with Polymarket saying on social media at the time that it became Yahoo Finance's exclusive prediction market partner. Their deal included a dedicated hub showcasing probabilities for key economic, government and market outcomes. That section was removed in April, and the partnership has now concluded.
"We had a previous partnership with Polymarket to display relevant prediction market data across Yahoo Finance," a Yahoo spokesperson said. "That specific agreement ended, but Polymarket continues to be an advertising partner across Yahoo and we're open to similar types of partnerships." Polymarket declined to comment.
The broader media play
Yahoo is one of several outlets that have turned to prediction markets for forecasts used in broadcasts, websites and print. In January, Polymarket signed an agreement under which News Corp.'s Dow Jones would receive its prediction-market data; Dow Jones owns the Wall Street Journal and additional titles. Rival Kalshi has announced arrangements with Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.'s CNN, Versant Media Group's CNBC and Fox Corp. Bloomberg LP lacks an equivalent media deal, but it does furnish clients with data from Polymarket and Kalshi as part of a larger data package.
Scrutiny and legal backdrop
These platforms let people bet on outcomes tied to sports, elections, financial markets and other events, with the posted odds reflecting how traders are positioned on the platform. Kalshi and Polymarket say their markets can strengthen journalism, while critics question whether the prices really mirror public sentiment and worry that cash-strapped newsrooms see this as a new revenue stream. There is legal pressure too, as many state regulators argue in court that the platforms violate local gambling laws, and prosecutors have highlighted several alleged insider trading cases. The companies say they watch for illegal activity and believe they should be treated as derivatives exchanges overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Polymarket and Kalshi have also been busy on the marketing front, landing partnerships with major sports teams, entertainment companies and top leagues. Earlier this week, LeBron James revealed he had signed an endorsement agreement with Polymarket, which, according to Front Office Sports, will pay him $15 million per year. Polymarket additionally secured an exclusive tie-up with the Golden Globe Awards, enabling on-screen presentation of the odds for who would win each category during the 2026 broadcast.

Why this matters for you
With Yahoo stepping back from a dedicated hub, prediction odds are spreading through a patchwork of media partnerships rather than living in one tidy dashboard. If you track economic releases, elections or other market-moving events, expect these probabilities to keep popping up alongside traditional coverage. Just remember what they are - snapshots of where traders are placing money, not a crystal ball.
