What Samsung showed
If you like big screens, Samsung is lining up two new tablets and a refreshed tracker. The Galaxy Tab S12 duo includes a 14.6 inch S12 Ultra for $1,399 and a 12.6 inch S12+ for $1,200. That pricing nudges the Ultra $100 above the S11 Ultra's most recent tag, and lifts the S12+ by $100 versus the older S10+. The Ultra stays slim at 5.1 millimeters.
Both tablets hit 1,600 nits at peak and refresh at 120 hertz, with IP68 dust and water resistance. The jump in brightness is a particularly big step up for the S12+, whose predecessor topped out around 650 nits.
Performance, cameras, and connectivity
Inside, a 3 nanometer MediaTek processor delivers modest gains in speed and graphics for both models. An S Pen comes included, while keyboards are optional: there is a straightforward book cover keyboard and a pro version with a full-size trackpad.
The Ultra differentiates itself with an additional 8 megapixel ultrawide rear camera next to a 13 megapixel main sensor, and it upgrades wireless to Wi-Fi 7. The S12+ sticks with Wi-Fi 6E. Buyers also get an assortment of extended trials for apps such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, Notability, and a six month Google AI Pro subscription.
Availability, extras, and the SmartTag 3
Circle Oct. 7: that is when the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and S12+ go on sale in dark gray and light silver. No refresh was announced for the 11 inch Galaxy Tab S11. Samsung also highlighted those optional keyboards and the bundled software trials.
On the tracking front, the SmartTag 3 is smaller, lighter, and more efficient than the prior model. Samsung says it trims size by 35% and weight by 33%. In power saving mode, it can last as long as 790 days on a single replaceable CR2032 coin cell, up from 700 days previously.

Instead of tying into Google's Find My Hub, the SmartTag 3 relies on Samsung's proprietary device network, which means that only Samsung-branded hardware participates in finding lost objects. While these tags do not provide continuous location updates, Samsung is adding more features for people who attach them to pets. The SmartTag 3 is priced at $30 for one or $100 for a four pack, with sales starting in early November alongside accessories that make it easier to clip the tag to items like luggage.
Samsung is also moving ahead of Apple, which is expected to introduce an iPad mini featuring an OLED screen within the next few weeks.
What this means for your portfolio
New tablets with brighter screens, an included S Pen, and Wi-Fi 7 on the Ultra, plus a tiny tracker promising multi year battery life, are what Samsung has queued up for October and November. The tablets land Oct. 7 and the SmartTag 3 follows in early November. If you are tracking gadget cycles, this is Samsung's play ahead of Apple's next iPad mini announcement.
