What happened
Qube Research & Technologies plans to bring on metals trader Adhitya Sethaputra, slated to begin in November in Geneva, according to someone with knowledge of the hire who requested anonymity as the information isn't public.
Who is Sethaputra
Sethaputra previously led the refined metals unit at Radiant World. His LinkedIn shows earlier senior roles at IXM Holding SA, with titles that included running aluminum and acting as co-head for refined metals.
The bigger picture
Radiant World's base metals desk largely operated on its own, separate from the company's iron ore business. That iron ore division is central to claims that the company supplied falsified documents to secure large-scale financing, which Radiant World has denied. Meanwhile, QRT is one of the big multistrategy shops pushing into the physical side of metals trading, hunting for edges in specific regional pockets of copper, aluminum and zinc.

Other moves and what they said
Earlier this year, QRT's London-based metals trader Dan Timosenko departed and is expected to move to Millennium Management once a non-compete period ends, said another person familiar with the matter. Sethaputra, QRT and Millennium all declined to comment. Radiant World did not provide a response to a request for comment outside typical business hours in Singapore. Timosenko likewise did not respond to a request for comment right away.
