Levi Strauss Surpasses Q2 Expectations, Boosts Full-Year Forecast and Payout

Published Jul 9, 2026

Summary:
  • Adjusted earnings per share of 28 cents beat the 24-cent estimate.
  • Revenue of $1.56 billion exceeded the $1.52 billion consensus, up 8% year-over-year.
  • Company raised full-year profit and sales guidance and increased its dividend.

Levi Strauss beat Wall Street's second-quarter targets, but its shares still dropped more than 5% in extended trading.

Strong Earnings Beat Lifted by Consumer Demand

Higher unit sales, rather than price increases, accounted for approximately two-thirds of the revenue growth. CEO Michelle Gass said, "Our demand remains healthy." She added, "We're seeing strength across our key segments of consumers, so we have our core Levi's, but we're also seeing strength in signature, as well as our new premium blue tab."

Raised Full-Year Guidance and Higher Dividend

The strong quarter led management to raise its full-year outlook. New adjusted earnings per share guidance is $1.46 to $1.52, up from $1.42 to $1.48. At the high end, that's ahead of expectations of $1.50 per share, according to LSEG.

For sales, Levi now expects growth of 7% to 7.5%, up from 5.5% to 6.5%. That's ahead of expectations of 6.6%, according to LSEG.

Finance chief Harmit Singh said, "roughly equal contributions from price increases and unit volume growth are expected for the remainder of the year."

Market Reaction Despite Good News

Even with all the upbeat numbers, Levi shares fell more than 5% in extended trading.

Broader Context and Outlook

The strong second-quarter performance highlights Levi Strauss's ability to attract a wide range of consumers, from value-conscious buyers to those seeking premium denim. CEO Michelle Gass noted robust demand across the core Levi's brand, the affordable Signature line, and the premium Blue Tab collection. This diversified product portfolio helps the company navigate economic uncertainty.

The raised full-year guidance for both earnings and revenue signals management's confidence in sustained momentum, while the dividend increase underscores healthy cash flow and a commitment to shareholders. Although the stock dipped after hours, such moves are not unusual following a positive earnings surprise, as some investors may lock in gains or react to broader market conditions.

The company's broad appeal - spanning budget-friendly Signature to high-end Blue Tab - gives it a buffer against shifting consumer spending, especially as inflation pressures persist. Gass's comments about resilient demand from core buyers reinforce the view that Levi's brand strength helps maintain sales even when discretionary spending tightens.

Investor Takeaways

The dividend hike reflects Levi Strauss's strong cash generation and its focus on returning value to shareholders. Combined with the improved outlook, the company appears well-positioned to handle ongoing macroeconomic pressures. The after-hours stock dip may be a short-term reaction, but the underlying fundamentals suggest continued momentum.

What to Watch

During a CNBC interview, CEO Michelle Gass stated, "the company's core consumer is proving to be resilient even in the face of higher gas prices."

How to Get the Most From Your Guideline 401k
  • Guideline is a company that provides low-cost 401k plans, popular with small businesses and their employees.
  • A "Guideline 401k" follows the same core rules as any 401k: tax-advantaged growth, contribution limits, and often an employer match.
  • The biggest results come from capturing the full match, choosing low-cost funds, and picking Roth or traditional to fit your situation.

Principal 401k: What to Know About Your Plan
  • Principal is one of many companies that manage workplace 401k plans, so a "Principal 401k" is simply a 401k where Principal is the provider.
  • The rules of a 401k are the same no matter who runs it: pre-tax or Roth contributions, tax-advantaged growth, and often an employer match.
  • The biggest wins come from grabbing the full match, picking low-cost funds, and knowing whether Roth or traditional fits you.

What a Tariff Dividend Means for Your Money
  • A "tariff dividend" is the idea of taking money the government collects from tariffs and paying some of it back to citizens.
  • To judge the idea, you first need to know what a tariff is: a tax on imported goods, usually paid by the companies bringing them in.
  • Tariffs ripple through prices, businesses, and your investments, so the smart move is understanding those ripples, not just the headline.

No Tax on Overtime: How Overtime Pay Is Taxed
  • "No tax on overtime" refers to a tax break that lets certain workers deduct some overtime pay, lowering the income they get taxed on.
  • A deduction does not mean overtime is truly tax-free. It means part of that pay is subtracted before your tax is figured.
  • The bigger money lesson: how you earn money changes how it is taxed, and investors often get the friendliest treatment of all.

Reading the Silver Price Forecast for 2026
  • Nobody can honestly promise a specific silver price for 2026. Any exact number is a guess, so treat forecasts as opinions, not facts.
  • Silver is unusual because it is both a precious metal and an industrial metal, so its price answers to two very different forces.
  • Instead of chasing a forecast, learn the drivers - inflation, interest rates, recession fear, and industrial demand - so you can judge any prediction yourself.

Why Is Bitcoin Dropping Right Now?
  • Bitcoin drops for a mix of reasons: interest rates, big-picture money policy, regulation news, and simple shifts in how much risk investors want to take.
  • Bitcoin has a fixed supply and no earnings, so its price runs almost entirely on supply, demand, and sentiment.
  • Sharp drops are normal for bitcoin. Understanding the drivers matters more than reacting to any single day.

USA Penny Stocks: Risks and Rewards Explained

Finding Cheap Stocks to Buy Now Without Getting Burned
