What happened in Q3
Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles in the third quarter, covering July through September. That was a 46% jump from 13,201 in the same period last year and came in ahead of Wall Street's consensus of 18,000 vehicles, based on FactSet's average estimate.
The math behind the 2026 target
On Friday the company reconfirmed its 2026 delivery goal, which was raised earlier this year to a range of 65,000 to 70,000 vehicles. To track toward that range, deliveries would need to rise from the third to the fourth quarter by at least 20.5%, reaching 23,193 vehicles.
The product push driving deliveries
The recent delivery growth lines up with Rivian's ongoing production ramp of the entry-level R2 SUV. Earlier this year, Rivian introduced the R2, a lower-priced, more compact counterpart to the flagship R1 SUV.

What this means for your portfolio
Rivian is holding to its 2026 plan while delivering more vehicles than expected in Q3. The near term watch item is simple: whether Q4 can clear roughly 23,193 deliveries. If it does, that keeps the long range story intact; if not, expectations likely reset.
