What's new and why it matters
The AI agent race is heating up, and Manus wants a bigger lane. On Monday, the company introduced Manus 2.0, positioned as a faster, more self-sufficient multipurpose agent that can research information, write code, spin up websites and presentations, and wield everyday digital tools without as much hand-holding.
Alongside it, Manus rolled out Cue, a dedicated app for building and deploying personal agents. Picture Cue as the kit: it enables you to launch an agent endowed with a unique email address, a phone line, and a digital wallet, allowing it to take real actions for you rather than merely offering suggestions.
What these agents can actually do
Cue's agents are built to plug into common services. That means they can handle errands most of us put off, like ordering food from a restaurant and reserving your place in line while you get on with your day. The idea is less back-and-forth and more "done for you."
Manus 2.0 is the engine underneath, tuned for autonomy. The company says the model improvements should help agents take on complex tasks end to end, from digging up information to coding and producing polished outputs.

The business picture
Manus was an early standout in the current agent wave after arriving in 2025 with tech aimed at complex jobs. Meta Platforms Inc. later moved to buy the startup for $2 billion, but Chinese authorities told the parties in April to scrap the transaction, and Manus carried on independently. The company now operates out of Singapore.
It is assembling a team to build products for the Chinese market and is in discussions with domestic model makers and broader ecosystem partners. Over at Meta, its in-house agent Muse launched earlier this month and quickly shot up app store rankings.
What this means for your portfolio
This is another nudge toward agents doing real work across consumer apps, not just chatting. If you track AI themes, watch how quickly these tools move from buzz to everyday use, how independent they truly become and whether users stick with them. Adoption curves here will say a lot about where value accrues - to the platforms, the agent builders or the service layers they tap.
