What changed and why it matters
Anthropic is widening access to Claude Startups, its program for founders and fast-growing teams building with AI. The initiative started in May and, by the company's count, thousands of companies have already joined. As it lines up what many expect to be a blockbuster IPO, Anthropic is working to make sure the next generation of businesses chooses its tools at the outset.
CNBC reported that Beth Robertson, who leads startup initiatives at Anthropic, said in a statement, "Startups are often the first to push Claude to its limits." "When a new model ships, they're ready that same day to take on projects that used to seem out of reach. Claude Startups gives founders credits, tools and direct time with our team, so more companies can build this way from the start."
What members get
Through the Claude Startup Stack, participants can tap up to $45,000 in combined discounts and credits, which Anthropic characterizes as a bundle of perks covering the tools a startup relies on. Eligible organizations can also receive a one-time $1,000 API credit and a complimentary year of Claude Team covering up to five premium seats. Participants may join virtual office hours with Anthropic's applied AI team and connect with peers from the Claude Startup community during events.

The bigger picture for AI startups
Anthropic says most of its revenue comes from business customers, and over the past year it has worked to compete with rivals such as OpenAI and Google, each of which offers a startup program. As competition heats up, Anthropic is pushing to ensure the next generation of businesses builds on its products. If you are choosing your AI stack, these credits and hands-on support can trim early costs and help you test faster before scaling.
