What moved markets
Yields pushed higher to start the week while U.S. crude stayed pricey, with WTI futures hovering near 92 dollars a barrel. That mix kept pressure on government bonds worldwide. Quick refresher: bond prices and yields move in opposite directions, and a basis point is one hundredth of a percentage point.
Key yields and where they sit
The 10-year Treasury note, a go to reference for mortgages, car loans, and credit card rates, stood at 5.234% after advancing a bit more than five basis points. A separate snapshot showed the U.S. 10 Year at 5.249%, up 0.068. The 30-year bond, often more reactive to geopolitical tensions, was 5.56% and appeared at 5.568% in the snapshot, up 0.066. The 2-year note, which tends to track expectations for short term Fed policy, moved to 4.918% and was listed at 4.935%, up 0.071.
For context across the curve, the U.S. 1 Month was 3.951% (down 0.015), the 1 Year was 4.537% (up 0.048), the 3 Month was 4.162% (down 0.016), and the 6 Month was 4.401% (up 0.039).

What to watch this week
The move comes after a choppy stretch that saw the 10-year hit its highest mark since June 2007 on Thursday, while the 30-year touched territory last seen in 2004. Investors now turn to a packed calendar: the core PCE inflation gauge, the latest quarterly GDP readout, the monthly nonfarm payrolls and unemployment figures, and Tuesday's JOLTS report, with openings expected to ease to 7.24 million from 7.27 million.
If the data keep inflation front of mind, yields could stay elevated. For everyday money decisions, that matters because the 10-year is a key reference point for many consumer borrowing rates.
