Tech's power players on the guest list for Xi's White House state dinner

Who is going

A source with knowledge of the planning said Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg is expected to be at the state dinner this week; like others, the individual requested anonymity because the matters are private. He is set to be joined by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Qualcomm chief Cristiano Amon. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is also expected to attend, a person familiar said, though Microsoft declined to comment. OpenAI said Monday that President Greg Brockman will be there alongside CEO Sam Altman.

Other big names on the list

U.S. officials said Friday that Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai are slated to attend. Bloomberg News reported Wednesday that Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook is expected at the Sept. 24 dinner.

The AI fight in the background

The event is poised to convene many of the tech world's most powerful figures just as a more intense AI policy battle spills into public view. Last week, Anthropic PBC CEO Dario Amodei urged slowing development across the industry, warning of risks that include large-scale cyberattacks. The Trump administration has countered that additional rules or any U.S. pause are not needed, arguing such moves would hand China an edge. China has criticized Amodei's comments as "fearmongering."
