Big interest, big questions
Global money managers such as Fidelity, Allianz and Capital Group, along with other international and Indian investors, have signaled interest, according to people briefed on the outreach. Those people asked not to be named because the details are private. A shortlist of anchor buyers will likely be settled in the coming days, they said, while stressing that the process is still underway and nothing is final yet.
Leadership and the roadshow readout
Akash Ambani, 34, who serves as Jio Platforms' managing director and is Mukesh Ambani's son, has been out front on the deal, meeting investors across Hong Kong and New York, as well as London, in recent weeks. Attendees said the conversations zeroed in on how high the valuation can go and how Jio intends to charge for its digital services and various platforms.

Timing, structure and the scale
The offering is expected to open next week with the IPO slated before Oct. 30. Representatives for Reliance Industries and Fidelity did not respond to requests for comment, while Allianz and Capital Group said they had no comment. Jio is seeking a valuation as high as 10.3 trillion rupees, equal to $108 billion.
At the top of the price band, Bloomberg's math suggests proceeds of about 302 billion rupees. The draft prospectus also shows this is entirely a primary issue, with no exits by current investors such as Meta Platforms, Alphabet, Mubadala and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. For context, India's largest IPO so far has been Hyundai Motor's local unit, which pulled in around 279 billion rupees in 2024.
What it means for your portfolio
If the anchor list firms up as expected within days and the book opens next week, you could see a rush of headlines. The size is attention grabbing, but remember what is actually on offer: new shares, with no existing big-name backers cashing out. If pricing lands near the top of the range, it would eclipse India's prior record. For you, that means plenty of noise and likely spillover into local tech sentiment, but the real test will be how Jio converts its user base into revenue across those digital services investors kept quizzing Ambani about.
