Deal Details
Instinct, the startup behind a viral AI agent, announced it has secured $1 billion in fresh capital that pegs the company's value at $10 billion. Backers include Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue. The company had said last month it was seeking funds at a $2.5 billion valuation, underscoring how quickly enthusiasm around personal AI is building.
Founder Noah Shinn said on Monday, "This funding helps us bring Instinct to more people and continue building the future of personal AI."
What Instinct Is Building
The company is working on an AI helper for individuals, designed to handle trip planning, reservations, and grocery orders. It can operate its own phone and computer to carry out tasks, including calling businesses to get things done. The company has also set up a system so multiple agents can talk to each other, coordinate plans and pass files back and forth on a user's behalf.
The Wider Field
Instinct isn't alone in chasing the digital personal assistant lane. Meta Platforms Inc. has seen momentum with Muse, an AI agent that connects to email, calendar and messaging apps to shoulder routine chores. The surge of interest around these tools points to a simple idea investors like: AI that quietly handles life's admin could be a big market.
