Texas Capital expects to begin trading on Texas Stock Exchange Oct. 8

Summary:
  • Texas Capital Bancshares will move its primary listing from Nasdaq to the Texas Stock Exchange, with trading expected to begin Oct. 8.
  • Valued at about $4.3 billion, the Dallas-based firm plans to adopt the ticker TXCP soon after relocating its corporate listing to Texas.
  • Coming on the heels of a move by Energy Transfer LP alongside three affiliated entities, it marks the fifth company in a week opting for TXSE.

What's changing and when

Texas Capital said Monday it will shift its main listing to the Texas Stock Exchange, known as TXSE, and expects its shares to start trading there on Oct. 8. The company intends to switch its ticker to TXCP soon after moving its corporate listing onto the Texas marketplace. "Bringing Texas Capital's corporate listing home to the Texas Stock Exchange is the logical next step as we concurrently expand access to the global capital markets in Texas and beyond," said Chief Executive Officer Rob Holmes, who serves on a TXSE advisory board.

Why the timing matters

Just four days earlier, the pipeline operator Energy Transfer LP, together with three affiliated firms - Sunoco LP, SunocoCorp, and USA Compression Partners LP - said they would shift to TXSE. As a result, Texas Capital is the fifth firm added in a single week, highlighting a flurry of switches as the upstart pursues listings alongside the big coastal incumbents.

Who's building TXSE

Founded by James Lee, the Dallas-based TXSE, pronounced "TEX-ee," has raised over $300 million, with support coming from the likes of JPMorgan Chase & Co., BlackRock Inc. and Ken Griffin's Citadel Securities. Energy Transfer's chairman, billionaire Kelcy Warren, provides major backing to the exchange's parent, TXSE Group Inc. The exchange aims to attract Texas- and Southeast-based issuers, while Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange intensify their push into the state. NYSE Texas recently opened at Old Parkland in Dallas, and Nasdaq launched a Texas dual-listing venue with a bell ringing at the Alamo in March.

The bigger picture and what it means for your portfolio

Texas is becoming a bigger financial hub, with firms like Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co. expanding their presence in a low-tax, regulation-friendly environment. As Holmes put it, "We've been considering it since the day we knew it was going to come to fruition," praising the exchange's "pro-issuer" approach. For regular investors, the headline is straightforward: the shares are getting a new home market and a new ticker, and a homegrown exchange is courting issuers located in Texas and throughout the Southeast.

Why RAM Prices Are Soaring - and Where the Money Is Moving
  • Memory chips - the RAM inside phones, laptops, fridges, and trucks - are in a shortage Tim Cook called a 100-year flood, and some memory prices have climbed about 90% in a single quarter.

  • The last two supply shocks ended in aggressive Fed rate hikes and market drops of around 45% and 20%, and this time Washington is spending heavily to bring memory production home.

How Is the Economy Doing? Washington Says It's Fixed, but the Numbers Don't Agree

US National Debt Hits $40 Trillion: Why the Economy Hasn't Collapsed Yet

Your 401k Is Fueling the AI Bubble
  • About $10 trillion of 401k money sits in a $77 trillion stock market, mostly through target date funds and S&P 500 funds. Roughly 30% of every S&P 500 dollar lands in five AI-heavy tech stocks.

What Is Wealth Preservation? How To Protect Your Money From Anything
  • Wealth preservation is an investing strategy built around keeping the money you've already made instead of chasing growth.

Why Is Everything So Expensive? Why Prices May Never Come Back Down
  • Official inflation is 3.4% and prices are up 32% since 2020, but rent (41%), gas (47%), car insurance (64%) and ground beef (79%) all outran the 28% median wage.
  • The Federal Reserve targets 2% inflation on purpose. Rising prices push extra dollars to investors and shrink the real cost of a $40 trillion national debt.
  • Investors who simply owned the S&P 500 gained about 150% over the same six years, and the Fed's September 16 decision will show whether it protects the dollar or the economy first.
