What changed and why now
Ford is leaning into a familiar playbook under CEO Jim Farley: more configurations and sharper price ladders on its most important nameplate. For 2027, every trim in the F-150 lineup offers V-8 availability, and the option returns to high-end King Ranch and Platinum after being absent since the 2023 model year. Todd Eckert, who serves as Ford Blue's senior director for truck consumer marketing, told CNBC, "We heard pretty loudly from both customers and dealers that even on those premium series, that they wanted the option to have a V-8 engine."
Automakers are also grappling with affordability and, in Detroit especially, have been reintroducing more V-8 offerings amid weakened emissions regulations and penalties that took hold under the Trump administration. As Eckert put it about the broader lineup changes: "For us, it made sense because it just broadens the offer and certainly doesn't take away from either the capability of that new entry or of the model that it came down from."
Prices down, features shuffled
Even with lower stickers, these are still pricey trucks. Pricing for the 2027 F-150 Raptor begins at $77,800 - $4,000 below the current model. The 2027 Tremor opens at $62,400, about $5,300 lower. To get there, Ford pared back some standard content, such as heated second-row seats, and swapped certain powered adjustments for manual ones, including the steering column.
Fresh looks and a Carhartt collab
Ford is layering in visual updates across many 2027 F-150 models and introducing a Carhartt edition in partnership with the Detroit-based apparel brand. The company says these changes are aimed at giving customers more choice while helping key models reach more buyers.
Supply backdrop and what it means for shoppers
All of the 2027 F-150 updates hit as Ford works to get more trucks onto lots. Fires at an aluminum supplier severely curtailed output over the past year. The hit was especially sharp for Ford's F-Series family - the F-150 plus the Super Duty line that includes the F-250, F-350 and F-450 - because of their extensive use of aluminum bodies and components.

For buyers, the bottom line is more powertrain choice, including broader access to the 5.0-liter V-8, and lower entry points on off-road and performance trims, with the tradeoff that a few comfort features may now be optional.
