The filing and the numbers
Nscale is stepping onto the NYSE with growth that is eye catching and losses to match. From January through June 2026, revenue reached $140.6 million and the net loss totaled $1.02 billion. Over the same stretch in 2025, revenue was $10.4 million and the net loss was $368.9 million, a 1,252% jump in the top line. The company also flagged $56.4 billion in remaining performance obligations.
Investors priced Nscale at $14.6 billion in March during a funding round that included Blue Owl, Dell, Nvidia, Fidelity and Point72. The balance sheet carries more than $8 billion in debt, not counting a financing arrangement with Dell.
Customers, competition and demand for compute
Since ChatGPT landed in 2022, labs like OpenAI and Anthropic have soaked up computing power for coding help, productivity tools and everyday chat - and the bills have been hefty. Both labs plan to go public and both have agreements with Nscale, which provides access to Nvidia GPUs used to train and run models; Microsoft, a cloud provider, is likewise a client. In the first half of 2026, a single unnamed customer contributed more than half of Nscale's revenue.
Nscale lists Amazon among competitors, alongside newer AI-heavy players CoreWeave and Nebius - the so called neoclouds.

Strategy, people and scale
London-based Nscale surfaced from stealth in 2024 after spinning out of cryptocurrency miner Arkon Energy. It has broadened its offering to include handling inference requests for many models, and in July it said it intended to acquire the startup Anyscale. Last week Nscale said Fidji Simo - who held executive roles at OpenAI, Instacart and Meta - was joining its board.
After taking medical leave, she resigned in July from her role as OpenAI's product and business chief. The board also counts Nick Clegg and Sheryl Sandberg, both former Meta leaders, among its directors.
As of Aug. 31, Nscale said it had over 1,000 full-time staff, a fleet of 25,000 GPUs currently in use plus 461,000 either operating or under contract, and data center locations totaling five in operation and 12 under contract. Founder, chair and CEO Josh Payne is 32, and in a CNBC interview last year he said Europe did not have enough AI computing resources.
What to watch next: Listing prep is one step - turning massive commitments into revenue while reducing reliance on a single big customer is the real test. The company's ability to balance a heavy debt load against a rapidly growing GPU fleet and data center footprint will matter most to anyone watching their own budget as much as a company's.
