New board hires and their backgrounds
On Wednesday, Oura - widely recognized for ring-based wearables that monitor health, fitness, and sleep - announced it is adding four independent members to its board. The additions are Jason Warnick, Leslie Kilgore, Miki Kuusi and David Sze. Chief Executive Officer Tom Hale said the group "know what it takes to build and scale category-defining global businesses."
Warnick served as Robinhood's chief financial officer for seven years, helping steer the brokerage through its IPO and the years that followed as a listed company. Before that, he spent close to two decades at Amazon.com Inc. in finance roles that touched investor relations, auditing and enterprise risk. Kilgore is a former chief marketing officer at Netflix, previously worked at Amazon and Procter & Gamble Co., and has sat on several boards including Netflix and Pinterest Inc.

Tech founders and investors join the board
Kuusi co-founded Wolt and led it as CEO from its 2014 start through its 2022 sale to DoorDash Inc. He stayed on at the U.S. delivery company, where he is CEO of DoorDash-owned Deliveroo. Sze, a partner at Greylock Partners, previously ran key operations at Excite and Excite@Home, concentrating on expanding consumer internet and media businesses, and his portfolio includes investments in LinkedIn, Roblox, Pandora, and the platform formerly known as Facebook.
Why this matters for your portfolio
The timing coincides with a Bloomberg News report that Oura may pursue a U.S. IPO valued at up to $3 billion, potentially as early as this month. In May, the company - whose main offices are in San Francisco and Finland - stated it had confidentially filed for an IPO. Bloomberg has also reported Oura is working with Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan Chase, Allen & Co. and Jefferies on the listing. If you track wearable tech or consumer health trends, this is one to watch for how a brand with subscription potential and hardware margins plans to scale once public.
