Apple reshuffles leadership as John Ternus steps in as CEO

Summary:
  • John Ternus took over as Apple's chief executive this week, and the company is hosting an employee event Tuesday to introduce him and celebrate Tim Cook.
  • Former CFO Luca Maestri recently left his corporate services role but remains on payroll, largely focused on a popular Apple University class.
  • Apple's leadership page now lists Ternus as CEO, notes expanded duties for CFO Kevan Parekh, and no longer lists M&A chief Adrian Perica.

New CEO, new lineup

John Ternus is officially in the top job at Apple, and the company is hosting a Tuesday gathering at its Cupertino headquarters to present him to employees and honor Tim Cook. Apple also updated its online leadership biographies Tuesday to reflect Ternus as CEO and to spell out who is running what.

Those updates show that Kevan Parekh, who succeeded Luca Maestri as CFO, has also taken on Maestri's former corporate services duties. Bloomberg News reported Sunday that under Ternus, Kevan Parekh, Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan, and Eddy Cue, who leads services, are assuming bigger, more influential responsibilities. Apple did not respond to a request for comment.

Where Luca Maestri lands now

After stepping down as CFO at the end of 2024, Maestri stayed on as a vice president overseeing corporate services - the organization encompassing Information Systems and Technology, Information Security, and Corporate Real Estate. People familiar with the matter say he left that post in recent weeks.

He has not fully departed. Maestri is still on Apple's payroll, with no assigned duties besides leading a well-liked Apple University course that teaches rising leaders how the company operates. Bloomberg News reported Sunday that he is in the process of wrapping up his tenure at Apple and usually goes to the office roughly once per week. He had continued reporting to Cook until recently, but he is not reporting to Ternus.

Schiller steps back, Cue steps up; Perica's future unclear

Phil Schiller, the longtime marketing leader who became an Apple Fellow and took charge of the App Store, is stepping down from that reduced role. Eddy Cue will take over the App Store and Apple Arcade, and the job of running product events moves to the communications department.

Apple's refreshed leadership page no longer lists Adrian Perica, the company's mergers and acquisitions chief. Bloomberg reported Sunday that Ternus is expected to remove Perica from his direct reports and may divide Perica's duties between the services and finance teams. Apple has not said where Perica will land.

What this could mean for your money

Cook often kept departing veterans around in smaller roles for years. Early talk in Apple circles suggests Ternus may be less inclined to keep that playbook. With more authority coalescing under Parekh, Khan, and Cue - and with Schiller stepping back and Perica's remit in flux - the center of gravity inside Apple is shifting. If you watch Apple as a bellwether, this is about who will set priorities for products, services, and the infrastructure that supports them.

America Is Running Out of Debt Buyers. Treasury Bills Are the Government's Fix
  • The government took in about $5 trillion in taxes in 2025 and spent about $7 trillion, and the national debt is now over $40 trillion.
  • Investors, banks, and foreign countries are all lending less to the U.S., so starting September 9 the government plans to sell more short-term treasury bills and use that cash to buy back its long-term debt.
  • Government interest rates set the floor for your mortgage, your car loan, and your credit card, and short-term Treasury ETFs like SGOV are one way investors are playing it.

What a Tariff Dividend Means for Your Money
  • A "tariff dividend" is the idea of taking money the government collects from tariffs and paying some of it back to citizens.
  • To judge the idea, you first need to know what a tariff is: a tax on imported goods, usually paid by the companies bringing them in.
  • Tariffs ripple through prices, businesses, and your investments, so the smart move is understanding those ripples, not just the headline.

No Tax on Overtime: How Overtime Pay Is Taxed
  • "No tax on overtime" refers to a tax break that lets certain workers deduct some overtime pay, lowering the income they get taxed on.
  • A deduction does not mean overtime is truly tax-free. It means part of that pay is subtracted before your tax is figured.
  • The bigger money lesson: how you earn money changes how it is taxed, and investors often get the friendliest treatment of all.

Reading the Silver Price Forecast for 2026
  • Nobody can honestly promise a specific silver price for 2026. Any exact number is a guess, so treat forecasts as opinions, not facts.
  • Silver is unusual because it is both a precious metal and an industrial metal, so its price answers to two very different forces.
  • Instead of chasing a forecast, learn the drivers - inflation, interest rates, recession fear, and industrial demand - so you can judge any prediction yourself.
