The Deal at a Glance
Goldman Sachs Group Inc.'s asset management arm is pushing deeper into Canada with a fresh advisory agreement with IG Wealth Management. The partnership, announced Tuesday, positions Goldman's multi asset specialists alongside IG Wealth on five portfolios.
What Investors Get
The five IG Wealth portfolios are built for individual investors who want a globally diversified mix. The lineup spans income, balanced, and growth equity options. Florence Narine, who leads investment solutions for IG Wealth, noted that Goldman is bringing "world-class institutional investment capabilities" to the project.
GSAM's Canadian Footprint and Why It Matters
Goldman has been a sub adviser to National Bank of Canada's investment arm since 2015 and has built out its presence by teaming up with other Canadian players, including Bank of Montreal's asset management arm and Wellington Altus Private Wealth Inc. In Canada's outsourced chief investment officer arena, the firm expanded its role by landing a 2022 mandate to oversee Bombardier Inc.'s pension plan assets. Since then, it has taken on stewardship of the Canadian pension assets for United Parcel Service Inc. and Shell Plc, as well as other clients.
