What happened
G42 has held early stage conversations with potential investors about bringing in billions of dollars, according to people familiar with the talks. Those people, speaking about confidential discussions, said the shape of any deal and the amount to be raised have not been decided. A G42 representative declined to comment. The spokesperson added that the company counts a broad base of US shareholders alongside strategic partners, and that it remains focused on its long term growth strategy.
Who is involved
He is widely regarded as one of the most influential dealmakers globally, with a sprawling network of companies and relationships across top tiers of finance and power.
G42's footprint and projects
Created to spearhead Abu Dhabi's first major technology push, G42 has expanded rapidly. Its businesses span cloud services, data centers and AI applications, and it has partnered with several of the world's biggest tech names. The company is building a 5 gigawatt UAE US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi that will use semiconductors from Nvidia Corp., and, following a policy change by the Trump administration that relaxed export limits, the UAE government and designated private-sector entities - among them G42 - are exempt from needing a US license to purchase state-of-the-art chips.

The broader Abu Dhabi playbook
If G42 moves ahead with a capital raise, it would align with a wider trend in Abu Dhabi of state linked groups tapping external money. The city's wealth funds manage almost $2 trillion, and while the emirate is typically seen as a net exporter of capital, there are signs that dynamic is shifting. Abu Dhabi is already directing substantial funds into AI and related infrastructure through MGX; the vehicle is overseen by Sheikh Tahnoon, its founding partners include Mubadala and G42, and it targets annual deployments of up to $10 billion in the sector. MGX recently secured $49 billion for one of the largest funds ever focused on AI deals, and Mubadala Capital is preparing to raise third party capital at home for the first time, extending a model it has used abroad.
