What happened
Both OpenAI and Microsoft signaled outages on Monday, and there were no reports tying the incidents to one another. OpenAI said ChatGPT Work had higher error rates and slower responses for about three hours, while Microsoft said it was seeing problems with Exchange Online.
Official messages and live updates
On its status page OpenAI warned, "Users across multiple subscription plans may be unable to start or continue tasks in ChatGPT Work." The page added, "We are continuing work on implementing a mitigation." The ChatGPT account on X posted, "ChatGPT Work isn't working right now," and followed with, "Sorry about that, we're working on a fix!"
Microsoft posted via its 365 status account on X, "We've confirmed that users may experience degraded functionality with various Exchange Online functionalities," and added, "We're reviewing service telemetry and diagnostic data to isolate the source of the issue."
